Marble Chess Sets for Father's Day

The problem with gifting a father who already has what he needs is that most presents get used once and shelved. Stone is where the sets separate from each other. Black and white gives the clearest contrast across a room. Verona reads warm and dense. Travertine is paler, with the natural pitting that marks the stone. Oceanic runs cool grey-blue, coral and brown run earthy, and the black-and-golden and zebra-black combinations are the most dramatic in the range. Care is straightforward for all of them: a soft, damp microfiber cloth, and nothing acidic — vinegar and lemon etch marble and take the polish off for good.
